Matrices
For the manufacture of diamond impregnated drill bits, 6 matrices are used, which differ in wear resistance (hardness). They are indicated by numbers from 1 to 6.
With an increase in the number of the matrix, its wear resistance (hardness) increases.
Matrix No. 1 is the softest and is designed for drilling on extremely hard, non-abrasive, very fine-grained and monolithic rocks.

---|---|---|
1 | Extremely hard, Non-abrasive, Very fine-grained, Monolithic | Siliceous Slate, Jasperite, Vitreous Quartz, Rhyolite |
2 | Very Hard, Abrasive, Fine-Grained, Monolithic | Diorite, Granite, Gneiss, Quartzite |
3 | Moderately hard, abrasive, Fine-grained and medium-grained, Monolithic and fractured | Granite, Pegmatite, Quartz, Obsidian, Scarns |
